The Pakleni Islands: turquoise water minutes from Hvar Town
Just off the harbour of Hvar Town lies the Pakleni archipelago, a scattering of pine-covered islets ringed by impossibly clear water. Because most of the bays have no road access, the only way to enjoy them in peace is from the sea.
We like to anchor for a swim before the day-charter crowds arrive, then move on to a quieter bay for lunch on board. The short distance from Hvar makes the Pakleni Islands the perfect first stop on a day trip.

Đevičanska uvala and the wild southern bays
Along the southern side of Hvar the coastline turns dramatic – steep cliffs, deep blue water and coves that see barely a handful of boats each day. Đevičanska uvala is a favourite: a natural amphitheatre of rock where the sea glows an unreal shade of turquoise.
These bays are exposed to open water, so we always check the forecast and choose the right day. When conditions are calm, they offer some of the finest swimming and snorkelling in central Dalmatia.
Beyond Hvar: Biševo, Vis and the Blue Cave
On longer trips we sail further out to the islands of Vis and Biševo, home to the famous Blue Cave where the midday sun turns the whole grotto electric blue.
